Call Publisher Refuses to Answer Questions about Contract with the Mehlville Fire Department

As most of you know, the MFPD Board of Directors has rewarded the Call newspapers for their favorable coverage by inserting their new district "Hotline" in it to be distributed to every household in the fire district. But not every household got one and inquiring minds want to know why! The district has said they don't know and Call Newspaper President/Owner Bill Milligan refuses to answer any question about it's distribution.
Ethics complaints are already being prepared about another letter sent from the district. It also didn't go to every household but to just targeted voters in the district.

Boy! I'll bet Hilmer is really SCAAARED....OOOOO ethics complaints. I'll bet they have been filed by the Jaw Breaker.

I'm sure he could care less about you losers.

Who asked Milligan about MFPD's distribution? Was it you or Dennis the Jaw Breaker? Inquiring minds want to know.....

What a self-aggrandizing piece of crap this so-called newsletter is.
The picture of Bonnie Stegman shoveling the shit is priceless.

Wow, these people must be magicians! They cut the taxes AND increased your service by 270%!
Sounds like some of the same brand of wizardry we've seen from Wall Street and the banking industry. Get something for nothing. Yeah, that usually works out so well.

They claim that men and women with decades of experience were "unqualified". (Notice they didn't apply that epithet to their lap dog re-tread fire chief, Silvernail, did they?)
How gullible are residents?

Among the many things they fail to mention: all the trucks are now GPS equipped. Why? Because their revolving-door hiring practices have left the department with entire crews of newbies who don't know their way around the district.
Of course, they naturally went with low-bid GPS equipment, so crews STILL don't know where they are going.

Isn't that great? You're having a heart attack and they can't find your house. Then they get lost in your subdivision trying to get out.
Then they zig when they should zag and you're half way to Jefferson County before they figure it out.
Don't scoff. It's already happened more than once!

The trouble is most of you people don't have a clue what you are looking at. OF COURSE Hilmer wants to give you the chance to vote to set a ridiculously low tax ceiling..he knows a majority of you are stupid enough to do just that. HE WANTS TO DRIVE THE FIRE DISTRICT INTO BANKRUPTCY. For God's sake get your heads out of your butts and see the big picture.
THIS GUY IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. He's a politically motivated, psycho tax-phobe trust fund baby who does not believe in investing in the community.

What a bunch of clowns....
It looks like Hilmer is leading Stegman right into the fire!

If she is to stupid to realize that Hilmer is out for himself then to bad....

that newspaper is a joke...
what employer would go as far as to print a paper telling the public that up till now the employees were not qualified! If my loved one died at the hands of the fire dpartment regaurdless of of they were qualified or not I would look into sueing the district now....
seems to me they acted without thought! As usual!

I did not get one either. I think they should resend it to all of us. I am very much interested in any kind of tax saving decreases.

Hilmer the trust fund baby again. Why doesn't this blog bother to correct the facts instead of repeating the same old lies ad nauseam.

The truth is that Hilmer is not a trust fund baby, his disabled father's care consumed any wealth his parents had. Hilmer worked for many years in the sewer repair business to support his dad and mom and made a couple of smart investments along the way. For once, why don't you guys tell the truth? You probably won't post this.

Are the voters stupid? No. That's why P.J. Polizzi will get his clock cleaned. Face it, the MFPD is located in a heavily GOP area who will vote to decrease their taxes and elect Stegman in a landslide no matter what the disgruntled firemen and Skelton say. It's over.

My husband says you people are crazy not wanting a tax rate decrease. We lived in Oakville for 41 years and will be going door to door.

Voodoo and trickle down worked for a while. It will not work for the fire district. Remember they are the busiest which means wear/ tear / fuel consuption. They also have the most real estate to protect. We don't need to be the most taxed but, we don't need the cheapest either.

Thanks for the Google ad for Roy Blunt for U.S. Senate!
I'm going to join his campaign team. Good work, Mike!

He held a legitimate job, huh? Worked for "many years" in the sewer repair business?
Got any dates, company names, names of any co-workers?
Hilmer's what? 33 or 34? He's been visibly unemployed for at least 4 or 5 years. So how many years could he have possibly slaved in the sewer repair business, although it seems the perfect place for him.
If he had any marketable skills, he would have mentioned them in his campaign. The call would have touted his abilities when they endorsed him. Nothing was ever mentioned. Nothing was said because there is nothing to say. What's his educational background?
He made a few smart investments? Really? Using whose money?
He lives in a $350,000 house. Who paid for that?

While I totally do not disagree with on the most taxes, I do believe all governmental agencies will need to cut way back just like 60% of the people in this country that are out of work or having there pensions cut. Its not a thing of thinking to cut back its a thing of having to cut back.

I don't know what all the fighting is about, however it is a great thing to put our community tax rates in check. I will support any type of tax reduction or decrease that is offered.

I agree that we all need to cut back but there are certain things that need to be maintained!
The snake oil salesman has the posters on this blog thinking that the MFPD BODs cutting taxes and improving services! What a maroon!
Example--
Lets get a real cheap investment adviser, maybe one just out of college!
What about a heart doctor brand new to the field!
I don't think I would feel comfortable having a 21 year old paramedic who just a week ago got fired from Macdonalds working on my family members in need emergent care.
That's what your getting-But hey look at the money your saving......
140-150 dollars a year.
Makes me feel a little uneasy.
Mehlville is the new Abbott ambulance but with firetrucks as well!

For all of the retired Union workers that voted for these clowns you should be ashamed of yourself!
Make it right and vote for the middle of the road!

Hillmer and Company want it there way and will sell out anyone who gets in there way!

Then you have the hypocrite Stonebreaker who brags about his musician Union card then curses the others for being greedy. I think he got his card for Job security, just like the rest of us.
Stony- You wouldn't be working as a musician without your union card!

It appears to me that Mr. Anthony doesn’t like Mr. Skelton very much. That’s not really surprising as Mr. Anthony has a history of supporting the MFPD Board of Directors and often has resorted to lopsided reporting to promote the Board and its questionable policies. Mr. Skelton ran for public office one time in 2007. He was a write in candidate that had 14 days from the day he filed until the date of the election. Still he captured over 32% of the votes cast – certainly nothing to be ashamed of.

So what about Mr. Skelton’s current lawsuit and appeal? He may be as suspicious as many of us are – or certainly should be. In these most uncertain times, why would the MFPD Board propose to permanently reduce the tax rate ceiling to 61cents! They must have a crystal ball or know things that some of the smartest economic minds aren’t aware of. This “permanent reduction” is extremely irresponsible to say the least.

So what happens if the MFPD Board is successful? How fast will this concept make it to the school boards in Mehlville and Lindbergh? Oops – there goes our school districts and so goes our property values – down the crapper! We get what we are willing to pay for and that’s how our school districts and fire protection district were built to what they are today. The MFPD Board can set the tax rate for 2010 anywhere from .00 cents to $1.05 cents. As of matter of fact, Mr. Hilmer stated at a board meeting on January 23, 2009 that the Board could levy zero cents for 2010 and run the District off its reserves. Run it where we ask??? Hilmer will most likely run it into the ground or possibly run it down to a point so low that we would have to merge with Lemay. After all the Mehlville and Lemay fire chiefs both have sweet contracts that provide substantial severance packages in the event the District is acquired by or merges with another entity. To my knowledge these are the only two fire chiefs in the St. Louis County that have such contracts. Conspiracy or coincidence? Both chiefs were lured to this area by Jim Stonebraker (commonly referred to as the fourth board member). Both receive fat taxpayer paid pensions and health salaries from Mehlville and Lemay.

So I encourage everyone to look at this matter closely. Do we stand by and let the anti-tax, anti-public education shot callers devastate our community? If the MFPD goes bankrupt or just merges with Lemay, poor Mike Anthony (who doesn’t live in the MFPD) may have to take his lame opinion to Arnold, Missouri, where he lives and try to peddle his rhetoric out there. He may want to take Bill Milligan with him. All they would have to do is get Milligan a couple of wife-beater t-shirts and he will fit right in.

The MFPD Board has hit a new low. Forget all the lies and misrepresentations touted in the Call. Now it appears the MFPD Board is using tens of thousands of tax dollars to get Bonnie Stegman elected to a job that pays about $2,400.00 a year. Why would they do this? I really find it disturbing that the Call “won the bid” to write, prepare, and distribute the “Hotline” news letter. It should be titled “all about Bonnie” or “the world according to Bonnie.” When you read that piece of crap, you would think she is the only Director. Ah, she is the only Director up for election in April. She must be desperate to get another term so she can complete her suspected plan to have all EMS patients transported to St. Anthony’s hospital where she just happens to work! All residents should beware of the upcoming “ambulance transport ordinance.” Say “NO” to Bonnie Stegman or get ready to go to St. Anthony’s Hospital for your emergency needs.

Tired of the BS from Bonnie Stegman

Anyone who wants to know just how "much smarter" Bonnie is than the rest of us should go to a meeting and ask a few good questions about district finances.
Then sit back and watch the circus pony dance.
Actually, given the question screening process Aaron has put into place, you can bet she'll have a scripted response to read. A response someone else wrote. Because she hasn't a clue what goes on. She does as Aaron tells her.

rofl you said circus pony been there saw that it unfriggin believable. At list Aaron will just tell you to shut up. while Eddy boy just nods his head lol
