The Mehlville Fire Department Gets Hotter

Tonight, I understand the MFPD's Board of Directors authorized the hiring of an outside firm to investigate some alleged harassment to one of their employees, Marty Becker. That's quite a coincidence. I understand James Stonebraker has been up in arms about the fact that none of Becker's fellow firefighters will tuck Marty into bed at night. This is quite humorous since the only district firefighter known to have harassed anybody is our current chief. James Silvernail had issues with his his former employer, Metro West Fire Department and their board of directors. He pleaded guilty to harassing them and a restraining order was issued against him after being hired by the Mehlville Fire Protection District. Former Ladue Firefighter Marty Becker is the brother of Mike Becker, Realtor, fee license agent for the state of Missouri and political tool for Chris Brown, Davis Bertelsen, Arron Hilmer, Bonnie Stegman, James Stonebraker, Kenny Hulsof, Rex Sinquefield, etc.

I guess your friend Bob Strinni called you after the meeting. He's going to need all the help he can get.

Anonymous said...

How do you know what Stonebreaker thinks? Do you talk to him?

Anonymous said...

This investigation is long overdue. Nobody should be harassed in the workplace. Anybody who does it should be fired!

Mehlville FPDs union is a joke. Other unions don't want anything to do with them. They didn't lift a finger to help Dennis Skelton.

5:10 Mr. Strinni didn't call me, although my number's in the book should he desire. If you'd like to send him a threat, you should keep it between the two of you.

5:22 James Stonebraker has operated several websites where he has openly shared his anti-gay, anti-public education, anti-whatever opinions. It wasn't until he started the Truth Spot that he started writing in hiding. I'm guessing that's because his wife's position forces him not to be so extreme publically.

SouthCountyMike said...

5:23 I agree. It sounds like the firefighters are the ones being harassed to me. Captain Don Hoskins, candidate for state rep, just won a case in court on Friday standing up against this harassment.

SouthCountyMike said...

This is something I don't know much about. I wasn't involved. I have talked to Mr. Skelton several times since I started this BLOG and he hasn't shared that frustration with me. What he has told me is that he has spent a good part of his life working on behalf of working men and women. He believes the current MFP Board of Directors does not have the best interests of their employees and the community they serve and that aggrivates the heck out of them. He has been gathering evidence of egregious violations of numerous state statutes and will do whatever he can to help stop this criminal activity.

looks like the 5:10am poster must be Hilmer or Stony Stonebreaker. How else would this poster know who was going to be investigated. Maybe the PI should investigate this.

Anonymous said...

5:10 learned about this from the South County News.

SouthCountyMike said...

I know it's just a coincidence, but has anybody noticed that the allegations of harassment against fire department personell began after the firefighters supported the Frank and Company candidates for the school board. I never heard the name Mike or Marty Becker till a few weeks ago.

Anonymous said...

Criminal? Let's talk about Dennis Skelton.

Anonymous said...

5:10 says: Strinni's the president of the union, who said that he's is being investigated?

Its his job to defend whoever is being investigated.

He'll be busy.

Hallelujah! The rumor has it that Walt Bivins' insane idea of the tax decrease has been unanimously shot down! As every normal human knows the board has the power to take any tax rate they want up to the ceiling that is granted by the tax payers. I am so glad the law makers can see through this sham. I will bet there will be some sort of a retaliation on this issue, that's how they, Hilmer Stegman and Ryan, work. It's the same old thing just a different day and topic.

SouthCountyMike said...

3:42 Let's talk about Dennis Skelton. Would you mind stating your name or will you toss out insults anonymously like a coward.
4:31 Give Walt a break. He's wearing down a bit and trusting people for straight information that he doesn't get. I'm just glad that the Truth defector doesn't have a problem with a state employee having a nice car. Walt, have you considered retirement?

I have been reading your blogs and do remember you saying you did not have any connection with Dennis Skelton. After reading this article I do believe you are a very big lyer. By the way you and Skelton have cross eyes does that mean you to sleep together.

Where's Stonebreaker's anti-gay site?

Anonymous said...

Mikey you are the one that needs to retire, your blog is full of lies and you listen to IDIOTS. Of course you are one to.

6:54 This info was on his old website. I think it was while he was the Lemay committeeman. I have some copies of it.
7:37 Where have I lied? And I'm already retired.Thanks.

Really, the guy spends a career in law enforcement and you think a silly jab like that would bother him. You need to get out more!

SouthCountyMike said...

Oops, I did make two small errors earlier. The ant-gay stuff referred to by 6:54 and 10:37 was on the Truth spot several months ago. 10:38 And when I said committeeman earlier, I should have said President of the Lemay Republican Club. I apologize if my comments caused any embarassment to the honorable committeemen out there.

You don't know a thing about honor.

SouthCountyMike said...

Boy, that hurts. I admit I made two tiny errors and all of the sudden I don't have any honor. Well, for you to say that anonymously, sir, means you have no courage!

I have to ask a question here since were on the subject of Mehlville Fire. When Hilmer and Stegman got elected they were going to reduce our taxes by $400.00. I haven't seen this yet!
As a matter of fact I don't even pay that much in Fire Tax to begin with! I think they might have pulled the wool over my eyes!
With me being on a fixed income I sure could of used that money.
Now I read about the quality of the firefighters being hired and am starting to wonder if I a mistake was made when I voted for these 2. It seems to me they pick on those poor firemen alot and that is bad. I have told all my friends and they seem to agree. We older citizens have alot of medical needs and now when we call 911 we have a bunch of kids showing up who are inexperienced.
I hope this changes!

Who if anyone, filed the charges with Chief Silvernail about the alleged harassment of little Marty Becker? Marty is telling his co-workers it wasent him, so who was it? Was it possibly Mike Becker (Hilmers front man for Citizens for a Accountable Education)or was it James Stony Stonebraker (the cry baby/SONGBIRD from Lemay)

SouthCountyMike said...

I certainly think the public has a right to know who has filed a complaint especially if it's not an employee who may have some privacy issues to protect. But if the MFPD is spending money because someone outside the department complained, no privacy right would exist.

Anonymous said...

I bet the public will not hear that while the MFPD Board suspended two employees (Union Leaders)with pay they are now running the rescue truck with only two people on those shifts even though there rule book says it must be manned with a three or more at all times. What do you think about that??

Anonymous said...

Southcountymike you should have been a private DICK

Anonymous said...

Employee harassment is a serious matter that violates Federal law. Missouri law prohibits release release of personnel data during an investigation. It is not a public matter...YET!

SouthCountyMike said...

8:01 I don't think I'd make a very good private detective. I'm too nice of a guy.
4:46 Apparently it is a public matter since they talked about it and had a vote in open session. Nobody has said anything about wanting any personel data. If there was a complaint made, we'd like to know who made the complaint. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

MFPD FIRE BOARD, RECALL VOTE?

SouthCountyMike said...

I'm really not a big fan of the "Recall". Although I think their may be justification, I believe the citizenry deserves what they vote. Having said that, the community should reflect on what has happened to our district and act accordingly in the next election.Mrs. Stegmann has to go. We need a new direction.

Bonnie just doesn't have the 'Right Stuff' to sit on that board. It takes more than bobbing your head up and down to Herr Hilmers motions! She was quoted in the Oakille Rag (Call) that it was OK to wait 10 minutes for an ambulance as long as there was a medic on the fire truck! This is from a Medic/RN/ EMS Educator!
What a Joke.
She is clueless.
And BTW--- There aren't Medics on all the firetruck as they claim there is while they patting themselves on the back!

My question why not, if you have two are three paramedics at a fire house move them around so you have paramedics on all of the fire trucks. Is there a rule are state law saying you can not move a Firefigher Paramedice from his station to another station for the better of the communuty. My brother in-law works for another fire agency and he can be moved at any given time if there is a polition down at another fire station. Why is not Mehlville doing this.

Hey
The other day I scene an ambulance sitting at one of our fast foods eating with the entire crew inside, are you telling me that doesn't slow your response time plus the dangers of moving that vehicle out of the crowed parking lot. What about moving the trucks around for union activities and we all know that is done. I have also seen your fire trucks at bar b ques at the Dierbergs store on Telegraph down from the fire station WHAT ABOUT THAT.

Anonymous said...

3:16 is an example of nonsense spouted by a "civilian" who has never done the job.
Perhaps that crew had been running back-to-back calls all day and hadn't had the chance to return to the firehouse for a proper meal.
And, by all means, let's lynch them for supporting the fundraising barbeques of local organizations. Heck, let's lynch the fundraisers, too. Everyone knows firefighters, boy scouts and the local high school band are nothing but thugs and bullies!
Moving the vehicle from a crowded parking lot is no more dangerous than exiting their own firehouse on a busy street. They activate the lights and sirens and hope the idiots on the road are not text-messaging or too self-important to stop...and good luck on that one!
As far as response time goes, whether they are sitting at the firehouse kitchen table or at McDonald's, they will do what they always do; they will drop everything and run. By your reasoning, 3:16, police officers shouldn't be allowed to eat either.
Finally, equipment is never repositioned for the convenience of union activities in Mehlville. It is laughable to even suggest it is done. Doing so would require the authorization of the duty chief, the assistant chief and (this is where it gets funny!)the approval of the practice as policy by the board of directors. It would also require the notification of and coordination with South County Fire Alarm.

3:10 Where to begin?
Any fire district/department, including Mehlville, CAN and DOES move personnel around the district as needed. There are, however, certain licensure and skill-set issues which are governed by both law and responsible management practices. These can be complex distinctions for the lay person to keep straight.
Do you know the difference between a Paramedic and an EMT? Most people don't. There is a very real disparity in their training and what they are licensed to do. (If you have a choice, go with the Paramedic.)
Mehlville's problem is they are running out of quality employees who can be repositioned as needed.
The hiring standards are so abysmally low, and the work atmosphere so depressing, they are only attracting the inexperienced and other departments' rejects.

Anonymous said...

Amen to 12:28, yes you can move people around to better suit the needs of the community every good department does this but, you can not move people off the ambulance onto a pumper, ladder or the rescue squad who do not have any fire/rescue training and vise versa. Both jobs (ambulance and fire/rescue) take a lot of training. Mehlville doesn't have the experience anymore to move them. The men and women who were trained in both huh...split when they saw the writing on the wall.

When you run as many calls as Mehlville does, (11,000 I think) a stop at a bbq place sounds really good when it has been hours since a good meal and let me tell ya those kids loved to see them there. I must of been at the same bbq place as 3:16 and saw all of this in a different light, a positive light. I don't know about anyone else but I love to see them out makes me feel safe.

Anonymous said...

Mike, it is I, 11:03, and I want to amend my previous comment.
There IS a time when equipment is repositioned for "union activities".
They take the trucks out to busy intersections to collect for Muscular Dystrophy on or near Labor Day. So does most every other fire department...in the nation...for the last fifty years. Some departments also collect for burn centers and summer camps for pediatric burn victims. (Such selfish bastards!)
The trucks are in service and they abandon collecting if they are dispatched.
I suspect Hilmer and Stegman would love to find a pretense for stopping this tradition as they loathe anything which paints employees in a favorable light.
