South St. Louis County is a nice place to live. It'll be a better place when Call Newspapers no longer exist. Do what you can to make that happen. Don't read it, advertise in it or support those that do.

Spot of Truth in South County
As regular visitors have noticed, I haven't been posting much lately. I have been reading other sites and I recommend you visit the Spot of Truth In South County to stay current on the unethical activities of our fire board. The link to the Spot is on your left. They seem to have the masses stired up!

Tax Savings in the Mehlville Fire District
Just so you don't think I've cherry picked my own tax records to show you how the fire board has lied about saving us 600 bucks a year, let's look at another person's taxes.
Mehlville Fire Board Director Boniface Stegman resides at 6039 Cardinal Creek, 63129.
Her real estate bill from 2005 shows she paid $299.25 for the fire department.
In 2008, she paid $242.24. This adds up to a savings of $57.01 last year. It's difficult to put an amount of money you feel would be worth risking the lives of your family but I guess Stegman thinks $57 is that amount. All the while, she has burning through the department's financial reserves. Great job Mrs. Stegman!

Mehlville Fire Department Burns the Truth
On Sept. 21st, 2006, MFPD Board Chairman Arron Hilmer wrote this to the Call Newspapers.
"The owner of a $200,000 house will save $694 this year alone and this does not include taxes on cars, boats, etc. which are taxed at even a higher rate."
I live in a $195,000 home and my taxes are down $74. That includes the taxes on my cars.
The Call continues to promote this propaganda.
