I don't care about all this trash crap. Tom Diehl needs to spend more time doing his elected duty at Mehlville School District. Of course, Diehl has created a financial disaster for our kids. He's a boob!

If a "boob" is an idiot, I agree.
Why did he move to south county from Ballwin anyway?
Was he running from something?

I see that Mehlville School District's money man , Brett Bell, quit to take a job elsewhere. I'm sure that Tom Diehl will give him a good reference. Bell should have been fired immediately for his poor job of financial forecasting.

Diehl and the BOE prolonged the PR disaster by keeping him employed. Maybe he was a useful scapegoat for their own incompetence.

Brent Bell is a very competent financial resource whose knowledge will be greatly missed here in Mehlville. He is highly respected among his peers in our area and I'm sure among public school financial administrators around the state. I'm not surprised he has already found a new position elsewhere. Other than during the election season, I prefer not to comment on Mehlville School District's BOE decisions, but I'll tell you anyone attempting to place the blame on Bell for their own decisions is truly incompetent.

I am really glad to hear that Brent Bell has a new position. He is a fine person and should not be blamed for the financial situation.

Then who is to blame for Mehlville's disaster? Does anybody bear the responsibility for the financial mess?

6:48 First, there's no disaster or mess. Last year, the Board of Education instituted a bad plan. They will make some corrections and eventually right this mistake. If there has to be blame assigned for the pain involved with this transition, it falls on the shoulders of the Board of Education and former superintendent Dr. Jerry Chambers. They are the ones who changed the district's budgeting process.Instead of asking the CFO for a recommendation, they told him what to end up with. The good news is that the money spent by the BOE was not wasted. It just wasn't allocated in a timely manner. All Mehlville Boards must struggle with tight budgets. This one will just have that much more.
