Mehlville Fire Legal Bills to Rise

The Mehlville Fire Department decided Thursday evening to spend more of your tax money in court. In a closed session vote, they voted unanimously to appeal their loss of a pension lawsuit by Capt. Don Hoskins. It would be a lot less expensive if this board would just follow the law.

Hey Mike, is it possible, or worth your time, to do an article on all the law suits done at Mehlville? And to break them down who won which case. I know it's a lot to ask but I was just curious. I didn't know that the board is appealing the case on Capt. Hoskins. I didn't even know there was a lawsuit going on. Thanks

Mr. Heins I would like to thank you for your great work in supporting the heroe's of our communities. Times have become very sad and their are not nearly enough people like you in this world. Im not really sure how they think they get to decide to take something away from someone after it has already been earned. Keep up the good work!! Ever consider taking on the demons (aka mfpd board) in the next election?

Yeah Mike, run for the Board!

To any comments about me running for the fire board: I have no intention to do so. I've done my share of public service, at least for a while.4:50 I'm not one of those narrow minded people that thinks a word can only be spelled one way. Seriously, I could run all of my comments through a spellchecker prior to posting, but I spend enough time here already. If it bothers you that I occasionaly spell a word incorrectly, I think you should consider yoga or something.8:22 Really, without a question?

After reading the Truth Spot on the final offer I think it is time for both sides to step up to the plate and take this offer by the Board of Directors. If
not it is very apparent that the firefighters only want to fight and not try to do the right thing for the community.

It amazes me that people take the word of "anonymous bloggers" such as the Truth Spot to heart. Educate yourself by attending board meetings and finding out what is really taking place. Look at the body language and behavior of individuals who are supposed to be making rational decisions for our community.

I agree, end the fighting and move in a positive direction.

Mehlville firefighters should avail themselves of this final opportunity to settle with the Board.

It benefits no one to keep this conflict brewing.

Bob Strinni must have made a lot of money at his benefit, he's out in New Mexico on vacation! And you criticize Lembke?

SouthCountyMike said...

5:42 You gotta be kidding me. You want to compare how a guy spends his private money against how campaign money is spent. Are you a socialist? I'm glad Mr. Strinni had a chance to take his kids to visit their grandfather and their great grandmother and it's none of your business!

Unfortunately we have no CHOICE in paying the taxes that allow Lembke to make unwise spending choices.

I am sorry it is our business when we are paying the bills. If he has mony to be spent does that mean we can cut back on the money donated for his cause.

The truth is slowly leaking out in spite of the determined efforts of the Call and Stonebraker to suppress it. People are finding out about Hilmer's trust fund baby status, his emotional problems, his Republican cronyism and his anti-public service zealotry. They are finding out about Stegman's clueless dependence on Hilmer's wacko guidance. They will find out about Ryan's self-indulgent interference with the design and building of the new number two house which is smaller than the old house! (The primary reason for replacing the existing house is that it is, and has long been, TOO SMALL.)
These three hijacked the flag of "reform" and have systematically dismantled the reputation and diminished the quality of the fire department ever since they were elected.
I hope the union can stay the course. It's a difficult situation for them. But, if there is a God, the boomerang of demagoguery, disrespect and hate the BOD has sent forth since day one will return to them full force and the truth will finally dawn on the voters.
Not that you'll read about it in the Call.

Lembke was NOT spending public money. Wise up!

SouthCountyMike said...

12:52 Pardon me, but I think you're being dishonest. I don't think you donated a nickel. How do you look at yourself in the mirror?

Amen!

It's funny that the proposal offered to the firefighters has to be listed by a blogger other than the fire department.

Stonebraker lists it on his website before it is 'offered' to the firefighters!
It shows who is running the department!

I drove by the Fire department headquarters the other day and it appears that a lawn sprinkler system was being installed.
As a taxpayer I would like to know how much was this and is it needed?
The BOD claims to watch the money so well but shell it out on this silly stuff.
Is the company doing it a member of Hilmers family or a friend?

SouthCountyMike said...

4:29 While I can certainly understand your distrust of the current MFPD's BOD, I wouldn't claim that this expense is silly or that it's another example of cronyism without some investigation first. Does the HQ need a sprinkler system? I don't know and I'm not going to complain without some reason. That's exactly what that anti-public school slate was doing during the election. Just because you don't agree with something, doesn't make it waste. If you're truly interested in the cost of the sprinkler, simply e-mail CJuelfs@mehlvillefire.gen.mo.us and she'll send it to you. Generally the BOD only gives their business out to friends and former classmates if there's a lot of money to be made, see Mike Leara, Central Republican Committee Treasurer and current candidate for state representive and the pension funds. Look into this guy's history and you'll have a lot to complain about!

Yeah, Leara made some money on that deal. Plus Hilmer moved 457 money, which was totally contributed by employees, to AUL and Leara made even more money. The employees protested, did not want to change companies, and were given restricted investment choices in AUL. Hilmer got the double satisfaction of pissing off the employees and helping his Republican buddy. You wonder why the men and women of this department despise this weasel?

Also, by AMAZING coincidence, the architect for the new 2 house lives a couple of doors down from Hilmer.

Blogger 429 pm I also question the in ground sprinkler system. I did talk to one of the Deputy Chief's and he informed me that the request for this system came from the firefighters out of station #5.
He told me that the reasoning behind this was to have consistent watering to make the grounds look good. I do agree with that I think our public buildings should look good.

I guess spending thousands of $$$ of taxpayers money is better than the old hose and sprinkler!

I guess there are 6 more houses to install sprinkler systems at.
The boards croneys are gonna make a boat load of cash on that deal!

11:27 I love it. Blame the firefighters. Believe me, at this point, the firefighters don't give a damn about the health of the lawn. They are worried about the health of the department, the health of their families, the health of their pension plan.
While I agree it's desirable for public buildings to look nice, the problem is people assume an attractive exterior reflects a solid interior. And in this case, it certainly does not.

A decade or so ago, the school district discovered the curb appeal of their buildings was a disadvantage. Everything looked all right from the street, but driving by you couldn't see the water stained ceilings or the cracking walls.
Only the kids, employees and dedicated volunteers who spent a lot of time in the buildings could see the truth.

I see the Mehlville union boys have taken over this blog. This the last time I visit here to hear all of the same crap.
