In a hearing this morning, the Bill Milligan decided he'd rather go to court than pay his debts. Court has been set for July 22nd at 10 am.
This should be fun!

big shocker. This is the guy who tells us how to spend our money and doesn't live in the district.
Have you noticed how tight Bill and Mike are with the Mehlville School Board?
Either does most Mehlville firefighters, but you sure love them.
Either does most Mehlville firefighters, but you sure love them.
is there an echo in here?
Bill and Mike are tight with the Mehlville School Board as long as it suits their purpose. They have repeated this pattern numerous times over the years. They are happy, for the moment, because Patrick Wallace is gone; a goal they have held dear for several years. The euphoria will wear off soon and they will invent a new scab to pick at.
New superintendent Terry Noble is a smart, low-key guy who hasn't yet had much opportunity to run afoul of them. They will turn like snakes on him the moment he isn't available to take a phone call from one of them.
7:45 I haven't noticed because I don't read the Call but I have to agree with 9:55.
Why is Bill and Mike happy Patrick Wallace is gone?
It seems Mehlville's (i.e., Karl's) motive in getting rid of Patrick was because he (allegedly) campaigned for someone other than Karl ("Waaah, Mommy, I want my bottle" type of behavior.) Was there any other reason? Hindsight indicates Unicom's hiring was a setup for Patrick's departure.
Milligan and Anthony have been gunning for Wallace for a long, long time. They openly attacked him in editorial columns and by skewing "news" articles. They also gave plenty of space for people like Karl to voice their unhappiness with Wallace and the "waste" of money spent on public relations and information dissemination. Why? I suspect Wallace was not properly deferential to them and their rag. He did not suck up to them and they really, really crave suck-ups.
As for Karl, he was THEIR ventriloquist-dummy board candidate at the time. They sang his praises relentlessly, devoting article after article to his proposals and criticisms with no insightful coverage of his educational and work background or what might qualify him to serve. They were putting words in his mouth faster than he could spew them. It was obvious he was being coached because Karl is not an especially gifted thinker or speaker. When left to his own devices, he relies heavily on quotes from dead presidents and self-help book authors because he has precious few original thoughts of his own. One of his favorite cliches is KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Well, there is a reason Karl likes to keep things simple.
I don't know if UNICOM was intended to set Wallace up but it worked out nicely for those who wanted to get rid of him.
I find it amusing that the same people who whine endlessly that the district doesn't communicate effectively with or involve the voters want to quash any and all attempts to do so. Wallace, the entire PR budget, the Mehlville Messenger, COMPASS, UNICOM are all a "waste" of taxpayer dollars.
Ooh, ooh, I know!! Let's trust The Call to disseminate accurate information to the public!!
Karl is not dumb in the sense that he can't learn. Karl's trouble is his own self-satisfaction. He thinks he already knows it all and has all the answers. Somewhere along the line someone, maybe mommy, told him once too often he was the greatest thing since instant coffee and he believed them. Plus, he does have an irritating habit of speaking in cliches and platitudes and trying to pass it off as wisdom.
Wallace should have been fired and you know that. As far as the Call goes they were printing the truth and you people can not stand that.
6:15 You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts.
Au contraire, 6:15, I could stand it very well if The Call WOULD print the truth. But, alas, they do not.
They print half the truth half the time and lie by omission the other half. They twist and cherry-pick facts. They manipulate statistics. Most egregiously of all, they skew news stories. Write what one wants in a clearly labeled editorial, but leave your bias behind when composing a supposed news article. The Call does not observe this simple tenet of journalism. Their agenda is clear, to the discerning reader, in most every article they publish regarding local government and services. That is why they are hacks. Their pathetic rag shows up free in community mailboxes, which is the only reason some choose to read it. If they had to survive on subscriptions, few would pay for the "priviledge" and they would be out of business and the community would be rid of a plague.
Karl's education seems to consist of one 3-hour course at Meramec. I noticed infamous Karl is sharing his "Quotes of the Famous" book with Diehl and Noble.
6:15 - Do you have any justification for Patrick being fired? I'm not aware of any.
The "Communications Director $50,000 - $60,000" position is posted at Mehlville's website. From reading the requirements, why is Unicom needed? Is this position for Jennifer or can I assume she is disqualified from applying?
5:42 You have crystalized my thoughts. You could keep going though. They practice a form of journoextortion. They will ride local officials with exhaustive articles both in the news and in editorials until either they get their way or someone is ousted. In addition to not having journalisitic integrity, they have no business or individual integrity as well. Note the financial treatment of their original business partner, frivolous and malicious lawsuits, faiure to pay their debts, failure to drive safely, faiure to comply with court orders, the false allegations against individuals at the places of employment and in court, their acceptance of gifts from area officials and the brutality at their workplace with spouses and their employees. Why would anyone expect any kind of ethical journalism from these people?
7:15 pm I hadn't noticed the quote problem with Noble. I will lend an ear in the future.
Diehl, on the other hand, gave a tedious commencement speech at OHS graduation. Playing "count the quotes" became a welcome distraction for the audience.
It will be interesting to see who they choose among themselves to be the next school board president and, thusly, the voice of the school board! They have wisely been rejecting Karl's efforts to put himself forth.
Diehl's miserable performance with Elliot Davis should have sealed his fate.
Palamand is usually unprepared for meetings; apparently doesn't read the director's packet beforehand. Besides, he doesn't really care about the school district, he's just using it as a stepping stone to local politics.
Ocello is probably best equipped to deal with daily business and media, but the strip club angle will rear its head everytime he steps before a microphone.
Let's see, that leaves Larry Felton and the three new people.
Felton it is!
8:16, didn't you mean two new people? Frauenhoffer and Drew.
Karl was the third candidate elected. I agree, probably Felton.
I thought they took turns depending upon who was up for reelection.
Felton did abstain from voting to extend Unicom's contract another 6 months. Kudo's for doing that.
Diehl had 3 quotes in the last Mehlville messenger. Noble had one quote in his 5/29 Call Letter to the Editor: "Educator and philospher John Dewey once said: "What the best and wisest parent wants for his own child, that must be what the community wants for all its children."
I heard in addition to owning a strip club Ocello was also a stripper.
8:16 and 11:50 you both got it wrong. There are two new people:
Drew Frauenhoffer and Erin Weber.
Is it really possible that KARL has senority on this board? Lord help us all.
Some boards rotate the presidency but this is by no means the rule. We did not while I was on the board. It depends on the experience and trust the board members have in each other. Our last two board presidents have been elected in their second year on the board. Mr. Ocello was indeed a dancer. To his credit, he was up front about his business when he ran for the office.
Karl Frank, Jr. has been on the board the longest but seniority does not exist on the board.
I wasn't implying criticism of Ocello's business concerns. Heck, I voted for him, in part because he was upfront and unapologetic about his business. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but neither is boxing or America's Top Model. None of them are illegal.
However, if current media trends are evidence, everytime he was referenced they would preface it with,
"Strip club owner and Mehlville School Board President, Micheal Ocello,....." which would get tiresome.
Ocello was upfront about his business, but was he upfront about being a dancer or stripper. I heard he was a stripper, but a lot of people don't seem to realize that.
Most on the board have their own business (Diehl, Ocello, Frank, Frauenhoffer) and Palamand works for a relative, but what's interesting is that they're clueless as to what's actually going on in the school district. They depend upon others to keep them informed while they sit on their narcistic thrones.
Mike Ocello was upfront about his being a dancer and being in the adult entertainment business.I agree it will continue to be a distraction and that's one of the reasons I didn't vote for him. It's interesting to note that the Call didn't find issue with it during the campaign. They needed the advertising revenue he would spend with them.Conservative politicians and church leaders were silent also on the issue.
6:51
What is going on that the school board members do not know, and is it right for us to expect them to know everything? This is a big district
Maybe Mr. Heins would be willing to comment about the above and the current board, since he has actually served.
I might comment if there were something specific I could address. I could offer a historical perspective and explain how often other things effect what the board does, but I don't want to offer a running critique of our school board. I don't follow the school district's business much anymore.
