Trash District Plan for St. Louis County

From the May 29, 2008 St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

Thank you for keeping faith in Charlie Dooley's Trash District plan. The bid to pick up trash in South St. Louis County came in at a rate of $11.31 for one trash pick up and one recycling pick up per week, and twice yearly bulk pickup. For me this is about half the price I was paying with the added bonus of helping the environment through recycling, saving landfill space and creating jobs!
I like my new big black container.

it is amazing how little "trash" we actually have after seperating the recycled materials......but I think my subdivision opted out of the program prior to learning the full story.

I wonder if Tom Diehl recycles?

mixed feelings about trash district plan.
have long recycled paper products, but hassle of plastics was too much.
now whole family really getting into looking for the recycling emblem and figuring out what can be and can't be. kids are excited about it and can't knock that.
cost will probably be less, too.
still, just don't like having it shoved down our throats.
doesn't make sense, i know, but there you have it!

Your last sentence sounds suggestive.

3:05 and 4:21 I understand and agree with most of what you've said.
My subdivision opted out and we probably will pay more because of it. Such is life. I really don't feel any of this was shoved down anybody's throats. Sure, elected officials made the decisions, but that happens every day. That's how it works in this great republic. To look at the detractors of the plan, you find why many people of a negative feeling about all of it. These folks are nothing but the leftovers of the Diehl v Weber fight. Now, I think we all agree that Weber overstepped it with their litigation against Diehl. But the same people who financially supported this group became the detractors of the trash transfer plan. You see the same names and they are mostly Oakville Republicans and Diehl. See Celeste Witzel, Mike Becker(same guy you've been reading about on this BLOG)etc. These two trash matters are unrelated except that these folks have partisan issues with the county. Does anybody really give a hoot who's picking up your trash? Next, you'll hear these folks complaining that they want to pick the tree trimmer who takes care of the trees on their easement or the concrete guy who repairs their sidewalk. With Diehl, this is so hypocritical. He's supposed to be against trash and he's been opposing a comprehensive recycling plan for the whole county. How about the Witzels standing up for the little guys(the smaller trash haulers). He's a VP down at the brewerey. Yeah, thats what AB's known for, standing up for small business. Cut it out!

NOW YOUR A GREAT TRASH EXPERT:
One piece of trash should know all about trash.

AAAGH!
For heaven's sake, get it straight!

"your" - an adjective meaning "of or related to you or yourselves, especially as a possessor or possessors"
"Is that your car?"

"you're" - a contraction of the words "you" and "are"
"Now you're a great trash expert."

You should have learned the difference between these words by third grade!

10;31 I would have preferred that 7:30 have chosen a different way to express it, but you were a little rough on him.

Who's your current hauler that you're paying twice as much for?
