I don't mind paying taxes. It hurts, but it's the price we pay to live in a civilized society.
I just paid our personal property tax. It was almost triple from last year. The primary reason for the significant increase is the newer car. But of course, it didn't help that the Mehlville Fire Department's tax rate went up over a nickel. Next year, it's going up even higher. I thought I was gonna pay lower taxes.

Does anyone have know why Deputy Chief Hendricks got promoted by little Timmy White. Do you think by any chance his daddy Doctor Henricks selling the property off of Tesson Ferry Road might have anything to do with it?

WOW I did not know about the property, it looks very fishy to me. I wonder how many other shady things are going on with purchases, promotions and friends given professional services for the fire district.

Because he resigned from the union and kissed Hilmer's ass repeatedly, publicly, and apparently enjoyed doing so.
It's an outrageous political payback promotion. They conducted no job search, did not seek any other applications.
It's not simply that there are better qualified people out there, it's that White is blatantly unqualified. He coasted along for twenty something years, going nowhere -- mostly due to his own sloth.
Since his election, Hilmer loudly proclaimed the old guard who weren't firemedics were "unemployable". Yet he promoted one of these so-called unemployables to captain. Then, four lousy months later, Hilmer made him chief of the whole damn department. White has no credible command experience, no business experience, nothing. He has comical Barney Fife-like obsessions with appearance and protocols. He tries to DEMAND respect through intimidation because he cannot COMMAND it through competence. The firefighters and paramedics have no respect for him and fear his incompetence (and the fellow fools he advocates for) will get someone killed. They have reason to worry.
