Are South County Republicans Ashamed?

I mentioned earlier that I didn't see a slogan on Councilman Campisi's billboard. There's something else I didn't see, the word Republican. I think there might have been a tiny elephant in the corner, but that was it. This last week, I saw literature for two Republican State Representatives running for office, Jim Lembke and Walter Bivins. Both propaganda sheets didn't indicate that they were Republicans. Has the complete lack of leadership from the governor's office and sexual scandals from the Missouri House of Representatives completely embarrassed these elected officials that they don't even want to be associated with their own party?

Don't forget that under the Republican reign the only ones who truly benefited were BIG business.

For instance- Oil Companies, War Industries, Pharmacuticals.
I think were sick of the BS that goes on. It's time to prop up the working middle class.
Bush says that jobs are growing and the economy is great! LOL!
I guess if you count unskilled, low paying jobs and maybe if your a white collar employee of the above mentioned sectors than things are looking up for you.

11:49 I don't even think the majority of big businesses prospered undered this past administration.

The american dollar is so weak that it can't hold up the rest of the world. Look at AB. it's pathetic and change is needed. We need to get out of the arabs pocket and build our country up. The working middle class is the backbone of the economy and right now they are barely keeping there head above the water.

Are you a Democrat or just anti-Republican?

I have been a Republican all my life. And, I can truly say I am embarrassed of the past 8 years, both on the local and federal level of government. I was planning on voting for McCain. But I won't, now that he has decided on Sarah Palin as his vice president. What is wrong with him? If for some reason she had to take over as president, she wouldn't do as well as Bush has done. And, I believe Bush to be an idiot!!! And, what kind of mother is she? She has a 4 month old infant with down syndrome and a 17 year old daughter that is pregnant. What happened to our republican morals? These children need her, but she decides to neglect them by running for an office that will take up all of her time. I understand things happen, but you don't put them out there for the whole world to see! This woman is worth nothing!!! I will be staying home for this election!!!!

7;35 That's a good question. If forced to say, I'm a Democrat, but I used to be a straight ticket Republican. Over the last ten years, I've helped many of each party in their runs for elected office. I voted for Walt Bivins last time he ran for re-election but I won't be doing that again.

Bivins is the best think that happen to South County.

How in the name of God and the good citizens of this country can you support Obama. Hes a real baby killer and will not support our great Military if his life depended on it.

SouthCountyMike said...

Baby killer? It's that kind of rhetoric that really makes people want to have nothing to do with the Republican party. You should also know that more donations are flowing to Sen. Obama's campaign from military men and women than to Sen. McCain's. Our great Military has been worn thin by horrible leadership from the oval office and they want change. I stand with them.

I have been watching the Republican National Convention all week and I have to admit they are putting on a good show. By playing the Vet card that McCain is a Hero does say a lot about his character. I believe he is a man that has integrity. Palin's speech was very good but seemed a little cynical. I would consider both Palin and McCain Mavics for going against the far right republicans. They say they'll be the reformers in Washington. I also heard from them, the other side isn't good enough. They don't hold what it takes to lead. The only thing I would question is what are they going to reform??? Is it their own republican party that has controlled Washington for the past 8 years? The congressmen and senators that have put our economy in shambles, with high fuel prices, layoffs and sending jobs overseas or high health care costs? Can we really trust them to change their way of thinking or themselves? 8 years of damage is going to take a new direction, I think. Will they do that?

I didn't know people in the military had excess funds to donate to candidates. What's the military pay now?

Were you ever called to active duty while in the reserves (excluding 2-week stints)?

SouthCountyMike said...

11:11 I can't speak to who might have excess funds, but most military people make a fair wage, if you subtract a few things like working conditions, ie., being away from your family a lot and being bombed. If the improbable would happen this year and I was recalled to active duty, I would make just under $72,000.Now that's almost top of the scale for an enlisted person, but you can see where many might have the funds to donate to their candidate of choice. I served about 6.7 years on active duty, including being called up for a few months for Desert Storm/Shield.

Blogger 8:59 PM. You really sound like an aggravated person? And a little racist? Maybe, I know why you’re aggravated? The Republicans are running away from President Bush, as I’m sure you already know. President Bush did a terrible in his 8 years of office. He thought no one would catch on by using people like Comedian Rush Limbaugh and Bill O' clown of the Fixed News Channel. They make up their own news to suit their own desires and not reporting all the facts. Fixed News helped President Bush spread his propaganda for the profit of the few and ruined the future of many of our US citizens! Bush didn't care about what the people of this great nation thought. He has only been for the money grabbers! So, now here we are! The republicans have to run someone they really don't want, McCain! McCain is “The Mavic” because he has gone against his own party before. This does not set well the hard nosed Republicans. So, to keep the republican base together, they pick someone no one knows, but is better suited to the party, VP nominee Palin! It's a long shot, but this is the only real shot they have to keep the presidency. Who knows, it may work? The McCain/Palin ticket will have to spell out in great detail what their plain will be? I don’t think playing the P.O.W. / Hero or telling people you’re a Hockey Mom is all this country needs to get back to the land of the people. I know one thing for sure! This great country of ours doesn’t want a clone of the past 8 years. If all the cards fall right for McCain and he wins? It will be the first time in US history that the people didn’t throw out the existing party in office when times were bad.

“I hope I didn’t confuse you with the facts?” Good Luck to you, Blogger 8:59 PM! I hope you have time to take a nap and get that aggravation under control.

I sure don't think the damn unions are helping the economy, If you want to blame someone blame the unions and the low life democrats. Remember they tried to rape Chrysler and went for everything at AB. Guess what they are losing:

Anonymous said...

8:07 What is wrong with unions, its nothing more than a bargaining entity that fights for fair wages and a safe working environment. Big Business hording all of the money is whats wrong with the economy, all about profits and not taking care of their employees. Layoffs help the bottom line, So who cares if you lose your job, at least the profit margin grows. Hopefully McCain will remember that workers aren't important, but at least record profits for oil companies are on the rise. USA USA USA, remember the RNC ha

Anonymous said...

What is wrong with Unions? They have put there own people out of work from being greedy and selfish. Businesses have gone elswhere and out of business due to crazy salary and benefits that can not be afforded by any small businesses. And then you ask what is wrong with Unions.

Anonymous said...

Should we leave it to the business owners to protect the well being of the workers?
What about job safety? Quality Insurance? Work Comp? Vacations? 40hour work week,? Child labor? How about a pension that you could live off of and not be eating dog food.
Without unions this country would have a labor force comparable to China and third world countries. I guess your ok with that. You would like to see the middle class vanish. That would equal huge profits for the business owners!

And speaking on pensions---
There are some cry babies here who complain that when a employee works somewhere for 30+ years and then retire with a lump some of
$750k that they are cheating the system/taxpayer/whatever! That money has to reflect consumer prices not for now but 20 years from now as well. What about health care? Food? I'm sorry that your grandpa retired in 1969 with only $50k. Maybe that should help some people think that inflation makes things cost more in the future! Help your employees SAVE for it. HINT - HINT MFPD BOD's. It seems to me you punish them for there efforts to secure financial stability for the retirement years!
The citizens of this comunity voted a pension for them and that is the way it should be. You are going to do nothing but screw up a great fire department by this Prop TD thing! Ever thought of that. The cost of running a fire department isn't going to get cheaper! You have taken The best fire department and turned in into a below average one in three years. Now you want to put it in the dump. Whats wrong with those 3 Board members at Mehlville Fire? They do live in the district don't they. Bonnie- You shoud be ashamed of yourself for these actions being you actually worked as a paramedic and an RN! Hillmer is leadinfg you down a path of destruction that just might ruin your future! He doesn't care cause he wants his brighter and will roll over anyone that is in the way- friend or foe!

Anonymous said...

Blogger 2:45 pm that is only your opinion. I hope the Board puts the TD on the next election, this will keep the cry babies under control. You people still have one hell of a pension. As far as the business people they are the back bone of this country and the Unions are to be very a shame the way that they steal from the small person that runs a business.

SouthCountyMike said...

8:36 Perhaps you'd like to explain how unions steal from the small person that runs a business.

Anonymous said...

I'm a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight.....

If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're "exotic, different."

Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers: a quintessential American story.

If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

Name your kids Willow, Trig, and Track: you're a maverick.

Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating: you're well grounded.

If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

If your total resume is: local weather girl (sports caster), 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive.

If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian.

If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married a heiress the next month, you're a Christian.

If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible.

If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's.

If your husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now.

Anonymous said...

You better also build a bomb shelter and find all of your family jobs.

Blogger 6:22 pm you should have been in comedy, what a joke, sounds like you don't like woman. This lady has more on her resume than Obama has ever thought of and he is running for President. You need to look in the mirrow and see a real JERK.

I think its cute that you get all roused up over the fact that someone as unqualified as Sarah Palin, is questioned. The McCain camp said that she would be unfit to run a major corporation, but she could run a nation. This is the women that claims the Iraq War is a "Calling from GOD." Well since you put all of this in perspective for me i think i have changed my mind... No, couldn't, but it was worth a try. Keep on 12:05, Turn that frown upside down. "U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A U-S-A" -RNC 2008 (I couldn't resist, just so catchy like watching a hockey game, tehe Palin)

Are kidding me comparing Palin to Obama. First of all Palin has a resume that will put Obama's to shame. Obama a President, I would rather have Hitler, at least Hitler would have a reason to sell out America. Palin as Vice President has a more professional resume then Obama as President. OBAM A REAL LOSER:

Anonymous said...

I am not blogger 2:45, however Unions have never helped the small businesses, Maybe put a few out of business. The come in and ask for out of reason salaries and benefits that no small business can afford and if they do not get get there way they put up there crappy signs and walk picket lines.
As far as big businesses look at the auto industry and AB, these industries have no choice but to bring in new management that will put these unions in there place and some cases thay just close the doors and move out. So don't question people on there feelings on these raping instutions.

Anonymous said...

Labor Union's are an organization that represents their members on salary, benefits and working conditions through negotiating with the management. Seeing that they are treated fairly and enabling them to provide a respectable living for their members and their families. Their crapy signs carry information to let the public know if those respectable living conditions are not being met. If their crapy signs have lies written on them their pickets are a waste of time.

As for AB they are still the largest brewery in the world. They aren't hurting now nor were they before from the unions. They were bought out by a foreran company because of the US dollar being worth half of what it was 8 years ago.

The auto industry is hurting because of the economy and high fuel prices. People don't have the money to spare and the auto companies were too late to increase their mileage.

Union members are a large part of our US consumer market. If people don’t have money they can purchase your products!
Please, respond to my statements. I hope to learn from you?

Obama is willing to cut taxes for 95% of ALL the US citizens. How you may ask? If you make less than $250,000.00 per year your taxes WILL NOT go up! They will either go down or stay the same! If you make more than $250,000.00 you will pay the tax rate you had when Clinton was president. And, if you are retired and making less than $50,000.00, you WILL NOT pay any federal income tax! Obama is the true HERO!!! Please, someone tell me what McCain wants to do for me??? McCain needs to take responsibility, along with the other republicans, for what they have done to America and its citizens.

Concentrate on the economy? McCain has chosen to suspend his presidential campaign and has invited Obama to do the same. This is a very smart move for McCain. Not that McCain can personally fix the problem he helped create, but walking into an ambush from Obama at his first debate would concede his failures. Who knows, buying some time for McCain may allow him to find something to work in his favor. He is down 9% in the polls. Let’s wish him luck!!!

Anonymous said...

Eyes on McCain!!
The United States House of Representatives (or simply the House) is one of the two chambers of the United States Congress, the other being the Senate. Each state is represented in the House proportionally by its population, and is entitled to at least one representative. The total number of representatives is currently fixed at 435 members.
Missing 2 senate members from Washington will not slow or stop a resolution for our economy.
McCain should stand up, be a maverick and show up for the debate on Friday. The people need to know the truth about McCain and Obama.
The people want to know where each canidate is going to take us over the next 4 years.
I think when McCain pulls these political stunts it makes him look even more incompetent and irresponsible.
