Breaking News Mehlville Fire BOD Allowed to Increase Taxes

Apparently, the Missouri AG's office disagrees with the Missouri Auditor's office. In a surprise announcement yesterday, we found out that the Mehlville Fire Board didn't have to ignore any tax laws. All they had to do was ignore the tax decrease measures that they put on the ballot in April. This has got to be the strangest tax story in the history of Missouri. First, the Mehlville Fire Board tries to place this measure on the ballot but gets successfully sued by a citizen. Then, they get the legislature to pass a law so the can put it on the ballot. They get sued again and successfully defend their right to put it on the ballot. Then, they use tax dollars to promote this measure. They dupe the voters into voting for what they're told is a permanent tax decrease. Then, they raise our taxes and get the state to agree that the ballot measure was bogus. I got a feeling, the BOD will be hearing from a few Teabaggers very soon.

Mr Hiens Let me get this straight. The first attempt for this tax decrease was blocked,by the courts.
So then the BOD And the district lawyer, change the language of the decrease. Then the BOD Contacts Mr Lembke and Mr Bivins in requestinting thier assistance in getting this on the ballot for the April 2009 election. 80% of the voters approve this decrease. Only to find out again that the language was off according to the State auditors office. Obviously Mr Hilmer AGREED!!!!!! with this be cause he allowed the AG Office to nullify the said Historic Tax Decrease. So What your Ssaying is 80% of the voters Voted on nothing. Now wait Mrs Stegmann Wwas elected in the same election so I guess that doesnt count either. Boy Hollywood cant write stuff this good. Mybe they will bring the Historic tax decrease back when Aaron is up for reelection. I think a letter to the Post is do. I wonder how many fiends of the Fire district work there after what the truth detector said about Mr Floyd artical I dont imagine to many. Oh yea I will use spell check on my letter.

Mike--
So, the BOD insists on putting a "historic" tax decrease measure on the ballot, articles are submitted all over the state about the "historic" measure, the language is upheld by a judge multiple times, the voters vote on and approve the measure, and now the attorney general will allow the people who did all of this to basically say "hey, we don't agree with the ballot measure, it is illegal and we do not have to follow it." Wow, so does the AG office have the right to overturn anything the voters approve? Will a smoking ban be overturned? Will a school board election be overturned? Someone should sue, because if I remember correctly wasn't another election challenged and the results were upheld by the Supreme Court (Bush v. Gore)?
And how will Hilmer explain this one? "Oh, yeah, we screwed up and you don't get a permanent decrease, but since it's a the level we WOULD have permanently decreased it to, it's alright"
Wow, who's gonna fill out a speaker's card for this issue? What a joke.
