In another clear example of their double standards, Call Newspapers has not reported the ongoing open meetings violations of our fire district. The close personal relationship between Call owner William T. Milligan and Fire Board President Arron Hilmer continues to erode what little credibility they have.
Already admonished by the MO Attorney General's Office for failure to obey the law in 2007, the Mehlville Fire district has not posted nor conducted regularly scheduled meetings in 2008.
RSMO
321.200. 1. The board shall meet regularly, not less than once each month, at a time and at some building in the district to be designated by the board. Notice of the time and place of future regular meetings shall be posted continuously at the firehouse or firehouses of the district. Additional meetings may be held, when the needs of the district so require, at a place regular meetings are held, and notice of the time and place shall be given to each member of the board. Meetings of the board shall be held and conducted in the manner required by the provisions of chapter 610, RSMo.
Had this been the City of Crestwood, City of Green Park or one of our school districts, the Call Newspapers would be screaming bloody murder, not to mention, threatening or filing petty, malicious and vindictive lawsuits.
The Concord Call, Oakville Call, Sun Crest Call and Green Park Call are an embarrassing example of American journalism. As one of their former editors once told me " I don't know how he stays in business."

Don't you receive e-mail meeting announcements directly from the MFPD? I saw your name on the distribution list.
There is no law mandating the posting of ALL future meetings. Some districts do it...some don't. The meetings are regularly posted at the District HQ as you know.
Funny that you are so concerned with the Sunshine Law now, when you ignored it as a Mehlville School Board member. As I recall, the Board of Education was sued by the Call and LOST. Didn't the Call get a nice cash settlement from Mehlville for your failure to comply with the Sunshine Law?
As usual, you are barking at parked cars.
SouthCountyMike,
Learn how to spell Aaron!
Stop lying about Mehlville Fire Board. They are not in violation of the Sunshine Law and you know it.
Let's talk about your sorry compliance with the law when you were on the school board. Didn't the Board get sued when you were on it?
Why don't you sue them if they are in violation?
You don't recall anything correctly. You say they the district lost. You didn't read the settlement. The Call received not one thing they asked for. Not one piece of information, one point of law, not one injunction, nothing. This was over 2 years. The district's insurance company thought it was financially better deal to settle than to fight. The board felt they might get better press agreeing with the insurance company. You should read the settlement. Note that I wasn't mentioned once in any of the court documents. If you can find any votes, meetings, e-mails I made while an elected official in violation of the law, I will make a donation of $100 to Lydia's House (a home for abused women).

Also,I'm not one of those narrow minded people that think a work can only be spelled one way.

To the writer who said they were not in violation of the Sunshine Law,
You may be technically correct, but they violate the spirit and intent of the law. What they are in vilation of is RSMO 321.200, they have not posted regular meetings. That's a fact.

Why don't I sue them? That's what's wrong with America. We want to waste all our money in court. I'm thinking the MO Attorney General's Office will get around to it telling them to comply when they get done dealing with the e-mail mess at Blunt's office.

No its no a fact. The MFPD properly posts their meetings AT THE FIREHOUSE. Ask your fireman thug buddies.
To heck with Lydias House, take a polygraph.
Hello Cardinal Fans,
I was just at the Fire District's HQ Friday. There was no post of their regulary scheduled meetings for this year. Last year it was supposed to be the 2nd Thursday at 7pm. So far they have had one meeting on the third Thursday at 5pm.
To the other fellow who wanted me to take a polygraph, you must be new to our BLOG. I've stated numerous times, I'd be glad to take a polygraph about anything I write about. I hear they cost about $200, will you buck up?

You should consider runing for fire board. The fire fighters need someone like u to stand up to Hilmer.
Thanks, but I think I'd rather do boot camp over again. Hopefully the citizens will make changes for the better on our fire board in the future. It really doesn't interest me all that much although I don't like seeing the firefighters and paramedics get screwed. What draws me to look at the fire district is the unethical relationship they have with the Call. I really get motivated when someone writes in that I'm wrong when I know I'm right. Remember when I wrote about Milligan's visits to Hilmer's House? They tried to deny it. That's bulls##&*.
Now this nonsense about not posting the regular meetings. I posted the state law here on the BLOG, can't these guys read. They must post their regular meeting dates!!!! To this date, they have not. How simply is is? It makes you wonder about the serious stuff and how much they conceal.
The fire district just announced they would have a meeting this Thursday at 5pm. They continue to refuse to obey the state law to post regular meetings. Their tentative agenda has absolutely nothing under old or new business.

What is your motive?
I'm not sure what you are asking. Could you be more specific?
Mike Heins
You should have been an attorney.
Hilmer and the evil witch of the west have undoubtedly screwed over their employees. This bull about the fire/medics making a six figure income, when did this ever happen? An average captain never made more than 70,000 a year and that includes overtime. Lets take a look at how pay works. A year you work about 2800 hours a year and if you make $19/hr you made 53200 dollars that year. I think that is five figures. let me count 5(1) 3(2) 2(3) 0(4) 0(5), yeah i was right. I think if you have a problem with salary you need to learn to count. Also an average fireman works 2800 hrs a year comepared to an average person working 2000 hrs a year. Please do your homework before you bitch about stuff you obviously no idea about.
I appreciate the input but please tone down the name calling. There's enough factual stuff for these directors to be embarassed.
Thanks again.
Mike
